My passion for counseling began at the age of 19 after reading an inspiring book about counseling and psychology. I have a deep interest in understanding human emotions, helping others navigate their challenges, and making a positive impact on people's lives.
Beyond my career goals, I have a strong love for music, wrestling, and collecting action figures. These hobbies bring me joy and provide a means for personal expression. Whether I'm exploring new music, following the latest wrestling events, or adding to my collection of action figures, they keep me engaged and inspired. With a dedication to personal growth and a strong desire to support others, I am eager to pursue a fulfilling journey in the field of counseling.
In 2014, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Counseling at Universiti Malaysia Sabah. That period was one of the best in my life, as I gained valuable insights into human behavior, characteristics, and psychotherapy. Through my studies, I not only acquired theoretical knowledge but also developed practical counseling skills, shaping me into a compassionate and dedicated counselor.
After graduating in 2018, I obtained my Malaysian Board of Counseling license and began my journey as a career counselor at City University of Malaysia in Petaling Jaya. I worked there from 2018 to 2020, where I had the opportunity to guide students in their career choices, personal development, and academic growth.
During my time there, I gained invaluable experience in counseling techniques, student engagement, and career planning. I also developed a deeper understanding of the challenges young individuals face in shaping their futures. Working in a university setting allowed me to refine my ability to provide guidance, motivation, and support to students from diverse backgrounds. This experience further strengthened my passion for counseling and reinforced my commitment to making a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
In 2020, due to the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, I left my position at City University of Malaysia. However, my passion for counseling never wavered. During that time, I worked as a freelance counselor, providing guidance and support to individuals in need. I also served as a family and marriage counselor at Penang Family and Marriage Counseling Centre, where I helped couples and families navigate their personal and relational struggles. This experience allowed me to broaden my counseling expertise and deepen my understanding of interpersonal relationships.
In 2021, my unwavering dedication to the field of counseling inspired me to further my studies by pursuing a Master's degree at University Science of Malaysia. My desire to expand my knowledge, sharpen my skills, and make a greater impact in the lives of others motivated me to take this step. This journey not only enriched my academic and professional growth but also reinforced my commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement in the field of counseling.
In 2023, I was appointed as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselor at Solace Malaysia. I worked there until September 2024, and this experience was particularly significant as it was my first time being involved in the Trust and Safety industry. At Solace Malaysia, I had the opportunity to work closely with employees, providing mental health support, crisis intervention, and workplace well-being programs. This role allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of corporate mental health, stress management, and resilience-building strategies. I also gained valuable experience in handling sensitive cases, helping individuals navigate personal and professional challenges while ensuring a safe and supportive work environment.
This experience broadened my perspective on counseling, equipping me with new insights and skills that further strengthened my ability to provide meaningful and effective support to those in need. It reinforced my belief in the importance of mental well-being in every aspect of life, whether personal, professional, or societal. I enjoy working with a team and strongly believe in the power of collaboration. As a team player, I value diversity and inclusivity, understanding that regardless of age, gender, ethnic background, or social status, everyone faces unique life challenges.
My aspiration is to be a therapist who journeys with clients through life’s rough patches with sincerity and warmth. I see therapy as more than just a process. It is a safe and supportive space where individuals can understand themselves better, heal, and grow. My goal is to empower those I work with, helping them navigate their struggles while fostering resilience, self-awareness, and personal transformation. I look forward to bringing my passion, experience, and commitment to mental well-being into every opportunity that comes my way.
