Growing up as a shy kid, being bullied and always feeling like I did not belong to society made me experience many challenges. Despite that, these experiences shaped me into someone who has so much empathy for the world. That was when I truly wanted to make the world a better place to live in.
Back in 2014, when I decided to change my course from Dentistry to Human Sciences, I had already set my mind on becoming a Clinical Psychologist from the very first day, even when I had to apply three times for the intake due to coming from a science background. I eventually managed to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Sciences in Psychology at IIUM. That passion drove me to do my internship at Hospital Permai, where I prepared myself and learned as much as I could, even if it meant traveling almost 300 km away from my hometown to Johor Bahru solely for an unpaid internship. That was where I first met clients, and it was also when I realized the healing impact of simply being there for someone, especially when a client told me how grateful she was to finally have someone to talk to.
After graduating, I had the opportunity to work as an ABA therapist in Autism Behavioral Centre, where I applied my psychology knowledge in a clinical setting. I learned new things every day about understanding human behavior while working with many amazing special needs children and preparing myself to become a Clinical Psychologist. Realizing that I wanted to do more and expand my knowledge and skills in this field led me to pursue my study in Master of Human Sciences in Psychology in Clinical and Counseling at IIUM as well.
During my practicum training at Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah UPM and Hospital Al- Sultan Abdullah UITM Puncak Alam, I worked with clients across various age groups. I gained experience with cases involving self harm, depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder and behavioral issues.
I also worked as a clinical psychologist in Spark Child Development Centre, where I worked with multidisciplinary professionals. I conducted psychological assessments, provided intervention plans, monitored and tracked patients and students progress, and conducted psychotherapy with children while supporting their emotional regulation.
Currently, I am working with The Mind as a Wellness Coach for corporate clients, supporting and ensuring their mental wellbeing. My main therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, not only because it is strongly supported by evidence, but also because I have witnessed how it empowers clients to take control and create positive changes in their lives, with guidance and support along the way. I also incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention with my clients when needed.
I am deeply passionate about contributing to society and I believe there is something truly beautiful in the process of seeking and receiving support. I aspire to be a therapist who can provide a safe space for clients to feel heard, understood and supported as they work through their challenges and move towards their goals.
