Hello, my name is Yee Chien. My journey into psychology began with an intense curiosity about human personality and the uniqueness of each individual. This curiosity led me to pursue a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) in Psychology at UTAR, where I deepened my understanding of human behavior and mental processes.
After entering the workforce, I encountered my own mental health challenges, which prompted me to reflect deeply on my life values and career aspirations. Through this experience, I became even more determined to enter the helping profession and pursue a career in clinical psychology. This decision led me to enroll in the Master of Clinical Psychology program at UCSI University.
During my practicum training, I was fortunate to gain hands-on experience in diverse settings, including schools, private centers, and clinics across various states. I had the opportunity to conduct psychological assessments and provide therapeutic interventions to individuals with different backgrounds and needs, further strengthening my clinical skills and adaptability.
I adopt an eclectic approach in therapy, integrating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to tailor interventions according to each client’s unique challenges and strengths. I firmly believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their thoughts and emotions with greater clarity and self-acceptance, empowering them to make meaningful changes in their lives.
I believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, as it shapes the way we think, feel, and engage with the world. Taking the time to explore our experiences as human beings, including our struggles, emotions, and personal narratives, allows us to develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and emotional well-being. In the long run, this process not only helps us manage life’s challenges but also enriches our overall quality of life.
I currently work as a Wellness Coach under the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) at The Mind, working with corporate clients. My role involves conducting individual and group sessions, as well as training programs, with a focus on helping clients build resilience and effectively manage personal and workplace challenges.
