I was described as a chatty person with a pleasant personality when I was young. However, when I experienced obstacles in life, I changed. I was no longer the happy-go-lucky child that people used to know. I started to see myself as an alien making my way through this world, and that it was so hard to be heard. From there, it ignited my interest in the helping profession and naturally became a passion for myself.
To kickstart this journey, I pursued a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) from HELP University. Upon graduation, I started volunteering at NGOs as a mental health volunteer, providing psychological first aid through the crisis hotline. While I was supporting my clients, I learned more about myself too. Since then, the calling from my passion grew stronger and led me to pursue a Master of Clinical Psychology at UCSI University, Malaysia.
During my practicum training, I was privileged to work in various settings, such as Mentem Psychological Services, Malaysian Mental Health Association, ACTS Clinic, and Pusat Psikologi & Rehabilitasi Atfal Jannah. I worked with individuals from all walks of life, including children, adults, refugees, and their families. With them, I have conducted psychological assessments and interventions for various mental health concerns, such as depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma and stress-related disorders, elimination disorders, and personality disorders.
I employ Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) as my main therapeutic approaches. I would sometimes incorporate techniques from other therapeutic approaches depending on clients’ needs. Since learning psychology, I was always fascinated by the working mechanism of the unconscious mind. Driven to develop more in-depth skills, I am pursuing a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy at LCCH Asia.
I am a Resiliency Coach as part of The Mind’s Special Project’s Team. I conduct individual coaching and group training sessions focusing on raising mental health awareness, building resiliency, and self-exploration.
As a therapist, I believe all individuals are unique in their very own way. I believe therapy is a journey with teamwork between two unique individuals (the therapist and the client). It provides a safe space for clients to heal, grow, and connect with their inner selves. I believe the journey of healing starts from understanding ourselves with unconditional love.
