I believe that everyone is entitled to create their own path in their journey of life. We are all unique, and I believe that every choice that is made in life stems from our stories, good and bad. My personal story taught me that help is always available, the first challenging step was understanding and acknowledging what I wanted to do. This provided me courage to reach out and it made a huge difference. From then on my interest in Psychology grew and motivated me to pursue a Masters in Counselling.
I look to journey with my clients, to help explore self-awareness within themselves. I hope to convey the message that each individual has the autonomy to make their choices to recognise self-worth and capabilities within themselves which will empower them to accept and thrive through challenges. And on each journey, that first step is being able to say, “I am feeling a certain way and I want to talk about it”. This takes guts and determination, but this difficult first step puts you on the path to a journey of recovery that can be fruitful.
Pursuing a Masters in Counselling has provided the opportunity for me to work with various communities from non-governmental organizations that provide holistic care and education for urban poor children; working with marginalized communities who advocate and creates awareness about HIV/AIDS; working with students; up to exposure of supporting working adults in private organizations. These experiences had also helped me in delivering group sessions and workshops on resilience, relaxation techniques and stress management. Currently, I am working with The Mind, servicing their corporate partners. In this role, I provide coaching sessions, group sessions and training that focuses on building resiliency, empowerment to persevere through challenges as well as motivating them on their journey towards self-exploration.
I look forward to join you on this journey of self-discovery, and to help you get back on your feet.
